I try and take advantage of all aspects of sunlight and its colorful and often mysterious effects to create unique works of photographic art that really makes you think.

It all started with my Dad taking pictures of us kids. Then it was me taking pictures of my kids. And while they didn't like it at the time, they now love being able to see those special moments in their lives that help them remember what it was like to be a kid.

For me, photography is a huge part of my life. Even when times are tough, what better way to get away from it all than by simply taking pictures of beautiful things. To do something I am passionate about ever since I was a kid is a dream come true. I've been taking beautiful pictures for years. Especially since the pristine Dana Point Headlands are my backyard and the Pacific Ocean is my swimming pool. I couldn't ask for better surroundings to allow my creative spirit to flow.

Add my fascination with nature, an eye for patterns, and deep understanding of light and its effects, and they all come together for making what I believe are truly unique and colorful works of photographic art that is worth sharing.

From Bakersfield to Balboa to Dana Point. My passion for capturing special moments in time has been there throughout. Photography to me is about so much more than just taking pretty pictures

Jeremy Lawson

photo is a sport of observation. As a shooter, I aim to capture the best of both context and story in a frame. I understand that moments leading up to a great shot and those included in a frame are linked by importance. As an observer of everyday life, I gravitate toward utilizing subtle visual ques like body language to provide insight and depicts an overall raw, unapologetic story. I use the lens to inform the viewer by focusing on habits and behaviors. More than anything, the service of a photographer provides behind the lens is to tell a real, unapologetic story. Lastly, I look to present the ordinary world in an extraordinary light focusing on the details and truth.

More than anything, the stories that are told simply need to be packaged correctly to provide a voice and platform to those who are otherwise overlooked.

As a veteran of the Marine Corps, I've learned the importance of precision, structure, and organization. I've dedicated four years to have those qualities embedded in me. While I they are installed in me, I've never perfected them, and I don't intend to. The freehanded, impromptu paintings are in some way, a rebellion against perfection, precision, structure, and organization. The lucidity of watercolors felt refreshing after leaving a bold world such as the reality of the military. I aim for simplicity, I take inspiration from nostalgia, and I like to put my daydreams in view.

Ryder Greyshock

Hello, my name is Ryder Greyshock, I am 13 years old and I am from Lake Forest, California. I began an interest in photography about four years ago, when I was given for Christmas, a small point and shoot camera. I used to go out with all of my friends and I would take all kinds of action shots, but the real reason that I did that so often was I had just caught the photography bug. So after a few years of small cameras and gopros, I decided it was time I buy a real camera and learn real photography. So I purchased a Canon 600d and between my photography class and the articles I studied I was able to comprehend the advanced techniques used to provide the stunning image that viewers look for. So I love to shoot colorful, mind blowing images that would stop a viewer or make them wish they were there. However over the years I haven’t I haven’t lost the passion for shooting action such as skateboarding or especially the ocean! I feel the ocean is my canvas; that is one of my favorite places to shoot.. When the waves are small and the skate park is empty I go on the hunt for curious, touching colors that move me and my soul. I was introduced to the art walk by my Digital Photography teacher, Angela Kiyono. She has been a great inspiration to me and always helped challenged me to improve. I would love to make Mrs. Kiyono proud and be able to show my work at the artwalk.

Scott Guhin

I have been an O'side resident for the last 15 years. I have been exhibiting with D Gallery, Phantom Gallery and Arts Alive over these few years. I am a graduate of San Diego State's Art Department. After graduation, I lived in Northern California, starting in San Francisco, moving to West Marin County, then Sonoma before coming down to Los Angeles. I am represented in private collections internationally.

I have always been mesmerized by color and light. My challenge has been to capture a sense of light in all of my pieces, I work large format (average size 4ft. x 6ft.) acrylic on canvas. Inspiration is all around me and so I paint things familiar to me. My garden and local landscape have been my central theme.

Elisabeth Sullivan

My paintings are a visual representation of the impact nature has on my senses fueled by my imagination and dreams. I’m interested in creating a peaceful, happy mood, evoking fond memories of a time or place, and arousing curiosity. I leave the story in my “dreamscapes" open to interpretation, inviting the viewer to experience the scene in their own way.

Kathleen Strukoff

Painting “alla prima” or “at the first” is what thrills Kathleen most about painting. Capturing the essence of a scene on location in one quick and energetic session when possible is the idea but she often takes those on location smaller paintings and develops them into larger ones in her atelier. Kathleen uses a combination of palette knife and vigorous brushwork with bold colors to express her translation of the scene..
Kathleen’s love for painting landscapes began as a young girl growing up in New Mexico where she first started painting in the beautiful environment of northern New Mexico. Like many artists, she was moved by the spectacular vistas and colors that you see in nature on a daily basis when you live in the high desert areas of this state.

After starting out as an art student in college, Kathleen took academic and professional paths that led her toward the business world but never lost her passion for oil painting and trying to capture the beauty of a landscape. In recent years, she has become obsessed with the spirit and challenge of plein air painting. She loves the spontaneous nature of this form of painting and the effort of trying to capture the momentary impression of a place, time of day and the weather that is occurring at a moment’s notice.
